Problem Solving and Diagnosis

Illness often occurs with an inability to adapt to stress. Stress may be physical as in injury, infection, medication or surgery; environmental from allergies and toxic exposures; nutritional from poor diet, food allergies or not meeting individual nutritional requirements; or emotional involving relationships, family or work stress.

To understand how the inability to adapt has affected each person we combine information from the specialties of nutritional medicine, environmental medicine, and traditional and modern Oriental medicine with medical diagnosis to address your needs. Our goal is to understand the root of the problems you are experiencing. We individualize the assessment to evaluate your unique requirements. There are often several underlying components contributing to the cause of an illness that are not identified in standard medical tests. It is possible to identify these components through functional medical testing. The answers to your health problem can be as simpie as a diet change or might involve evaluating and treating some of the following areas:

  • Hormonal status including the 'anti-aging' and stress hormones
  • Digestive function including adequacy of enzyme production and evaluation of the bacteria and yeast in the digestive tract
  • Allergies and intolerance to foods, molds, pollens, dust or chemicals
  • Immune system function
  • Antioxidant, vitamin and mineral status
  • Detoxification pathways and levels of toxins
  • Stress and emotional states
  • Energetic balance
